Connect ChatGPT to Retavon

Add Retavon to ChatGPT and sign in as yourself. ChatGPT then works in your store as you: it looks up the warranty, works out the reorder and drafts the purchase orders, from the same live numbers your team sees, with your permissions and nothing more.

What ChatGPT does in Retavon

Ask in plain words. ChatGPT finds what it needs in Retavon for itself, and acts there. Nobody copies numbers into a chat and back. ChatGPT looks things up without asking. Before it changes anything, such as drafting a purchase order or setting a follow-up, ChatGPT asks you first.

  • "Is the Garcias' heater still under warranty?"

ChatGPT reads the customer's own unit by its serial number, its warranties and its service history, and books the part from the van's stock with the failed part's number kept for the manufacturer's claim.

  • "What do we need to reorder this week?"

What is below par at each store and van, what has sat unsold, and a purchase order drafted for each vendor for you to check.

  • "Which quotes from last month never closed?"

The open quotes, who wrote each one and when the customer last heard from you, with a follow-up set for each.

  • "What are we owed, and by whom?"

Balances by customer and by age, the deposits held against orders still to deliver, and what lenders still owe on financed sales.

Add Retavon to your ChatGPT workspace

On ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu, an admin or owner of the workspace adds Retavon once, on ChatGPT on the web 1. On Enterprise and Edu, admins can also let chosen members add it.

In ChatGPT

  1. Go to Plugins at chatgpt.com/plugins 2.
  2. Choose the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Name it Retavon, and describe it as your store's point of sale, inventory, service and books.
  4. Under Connection, give it the address https://api-demo.retavon.com/mcp.
  5. Keep the sign-in ChatGPT finds, read the warning, and choose I understand and want to continue.
  6. Choose Create as a plugin, check the tools it lists, and publish it to your workspace.

What the tools are

ChatGPT lists seven tools: five that read how Retavon works, one that looks things up and one that makes changes. That is all of Retavon, about 500 jobs a person at the store would do, reached through those seven.

How the tools work, for the technically minded

Each person signs in as themselves

Once Retavon is in the workspace, each person chooses it in ChatGPT and signs in to Retavon with their own login. Nobody shares an account. The technician's ChatGPT holds the technician's permissions, the store manager's holds the store manager's, and when someone leaves, their connection stops with their access.

Each connection appears on Retavon's Agent keys screen under the person's name. The owner can limit it to looking things up or switch it off, and everything ChatGPT does is in the audit trail beside that person's own work.

Codex and agents of your own

Codex reaches the same address. Add it and sign in as yourself, and Codex works with your permissions. For jobs that run on their own, such as an agent built on OpenAI's Responses API, issue an agent key with the roles you choose and send it with each call.

Agent-driven, with OpenAI Dots

Dots are OpenAI's always-on agents: each keeps working toward a goal between conversations, on a computer of its own, and reaches you in ChatGPT, Slack or Microsoft Teams 3. A dot works in Retavon through Retavon's API, with an agent key you issue.

Give a dot a job in Retavon

  1. In Retavon, issue an agent key: for yourself, or for nobody with only the roles and stores the job needs. Limit it to looking things up to begin with, if you like.
  2. Give the dot the key and Retavon's address, https://api-demo.retavon.com/. It finds every job at the store from there.
  3. Tell it the job, in plain words: "Every Monday, work out what each store and van needs to reorder, draft the purchase orders, and post them in our Slack for the manager to check."

What keeps it in bounds

A dot holds only what the key holds. Every change it makes is in the audit trail under its key. A text or email it writes in its own words waits on the Messages screen for a person to send. The owner can limit every agent in the business to looking things up, or stop them all, with one switch.

Questions

Which ChatGPT plans can connect to Retavon?

OpenAI offers custom MCP servers on ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu, where a workspace admin adds Retavon and each person signs in. ChatGPT Pro can connect one to look things up. OpenAI's help page lists the plans as they change.

Can ChatGPT see everything in the business?

No. ChatGPT sees what you can see and does what you can do. A technician's ChatGPT cannot read the books unless the technician can.

Will ChatGPT change things without asking?

ChatGPT asks before anything that changes a record, such as an order, a purchase order or a follow-up. Looking things up runs without asking.

Does Retavon charge extra for ChatGPT?

No. Connecting ChatGPT is part of every Retavon plan.

Can the owner switch it off?

Yes. The owner can limit any one connection to looking things up, revoke it, or set what every agent in the business may do with one switch.

Can OpenAI Dots work in Retavon?

Yes. A dot works through Retavon's API with an agent key you issue, holding only the roles you give it, and every change it makes is in the audit trail.

Does this work with Claude as well?

Yes. Some people on a team use ChatGPT and some use Claude, and each works with that person's permissions. See Connect Claude to Retavon.
